THE PROGRAM Hu-Friedy considers education as a lifelong experience that promotes personal development and continuously expands the knowledge base of the profession we service. In an effort to further support education of dental professionals, Hu-Friedy has established a scholarship program to assist dental hygienists who plan to continue their education in an accredited university, college or vocational school program in pursuit of a higher degree completion that will enhance their ability to make a contribution to the dental field. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin. ELIGIBILITY Applicants to the Hu-Friedy Scholarship Program must be –
AWARDS If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award in the amount of $10,000 to be used toward his/her continuing education. Up to (4) awards will be granted as a one-time reward. Awards are for undergraduate or graduate study only. APPLICATION Interested students must complete the application and mail it along with a current, complete transcript of grades to Hu-Friedy postmarked no later than October 31st, 2011. Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applications are evaluated on the information supplied; therefore, answer all questions as completely as possible. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated. All information received is considered confidential and is reviewed only by Hu-Friedy. Applications can be found at the left navigation bar of this web page, under Applcation Materials. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, essay, and an outside appraisal. Awards of $10,000 each will be granted, up to four scholarships. Selection of recipients is made by a Hu-Friedy committee of registered dental hygienists and educators established by Hu-Friedy. Applicants will be notified in January of 2012. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIPS Scholarship Management Services processes scholarship payments on behalf of Hu-Friedy. Payments are made in equal installments on August 15 and December 30 of 2012. Checks are mailed to each recipient's home address and are made payable to the school for the student. OBLIGATIONS Recipients have no obligation to Hu-Friedy. They are, however, required to notify Scholarship Management Services of any changes in address, school enrollment, or other relevant information, Scholarship recipients have the opportunity to participate in press about their stories with Hu-Friedy and Friends of Hu-Friedy. REVISIONS Hu-Friedy reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of this scholarship program and to make changes at any time including termination of the program.
