"Show Your Smile" Holiday Stories

"How loudly I could sing my beloved Christmas carols in church during the Christmas season. Singing with such joy and purpose, I had also unknowingly been singing my own version of "Hark the Herald Angels Sing." I was no more than four years old and on the verse that states "with angelic host proclaim" I clearly sang "with a Hershey cocoa plane." No one ever corrected me because it blended so well with the other members of the singing congregation. Whenever I learned to read and saw the correct words, I just kept my new found knowledge to myself. Now years later I am thinking how much I must have always loved chocolate."

"It has to do with Hanukkah. There is 11 grandchildren and we all got together on the last night of Hanukkah for each of us to light our own Menorah (9 candles each). Well someone thought that my grandparents place was burning and called the fire dept. Well here was a whole crew at the door ready to put a fire out, only to find 12 Menorahs ablaze and all was well. We all had a good laugh and decided next year to only light 3 - one for each of the families and spare the fire dept visit."

"My name is Christina and I have a funny Christmas story to share with you :) My family has a tradition like most other families where we all stay in one night and decorate the house and of course the tree for Christmas. Well a few years ago was a bit more interesting then the rest :) My family and I were decorating for a few hours and everyone was getting tired. Upon finishing we all went into the kitchen to sit down and have some food and drinks. After a few minutes we heard a loud thump... We all ran to the living room to see my dad had fallen asleep on the couch and our tree had fallen on him! He never even woke up! Ornaments were all over him:) He was completely covered in Christmas tree! It was great! We had to wake him up to move the tree back and place all the decorations back on the tree. Now every year we warn my dad not to fall asleep next to the tree because the tree won't like it! To this day he sits in the chair away from the tree :) I love funny memories! Happy Holidays!"

"Long ago in Kindergarten, our class was to sing "All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth". Most of us 5 year olds had "wiggly teeth" but I lost all 8 of my front primary teeth, days before the program. I was then prominently placed front row, center stage to proudly and loudly sing, all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth... with a big toothless grin!"

"When my son was two years old I was ready to play Santa in a big way. I really went overboard on the toys, books, and other surprises. On Christmas morning my child made a beeline to his stocking overlooking everything else. He dumped the contents on the floor and focused on the battery operated musical toothbrush that I had added to his list at the last minute. It was his favorite thing and he used it all day, ignoring other gifts. Whenever anyone would ask him what Santa brought him, his reply was "a singing toothbrush."

"I was shopping with my boyfriend's 10 year old nephew. He was getting a present for his brother and I was getting a surprise holiday gift for my boyfriend/his uncle. I told his nephew to not tell him cause it was a surprise and thought nothing else of it. A day before Christmas a UPS package was delivered at the door. Inside was special software additions to the camcorder that I secretly bought for my boyfriend. All my family who was present at the time started laughing. I turned to his nephew to ask him why he told...and he said that Uncle Sean told him that he would make him a root beer float if he told him what I got him from Christmas. As everyone continued to bust out laughing, I sat there wondering who was the child my boyfriend's nephew or my boyfriend?"

"Hope you all are enjoying the Holidays! Well, to begin, I come from a family of nine children. You can just imagine Christmas time, especially Christmas morning. One Christmas we all were traveling in a LARGE motor-home from Chicago, IL to Belmont, MS to visit family, like we did nearly every year. Anyhow, we made it safely to my grandparents and a couple days later it was Christmas Eve. We were all excited for Santa to come! That's when my parents realized that all the "Santa" gifts had been left at home. They were in a panic! They left immediately in search of gifts. Well they weren't able to get the long and hard searched for Santa gifts. I'm sure every one knows how rare those can be! So you can imagine our faces when we awoke the next morning! Our parents had to soothingly explain where all the Santa presents were. Their story was that Santa had gotten confused and left our other presents at our house in IL. Bless their hearts! Sure enough when we returned there sat our Santa gifts! I will always remember the Christmas when Santa got confused!"
