Introducing Susan Boyden, RDH, MBA - Global Sales Training Manager

How long have you been with Hu-Friedy?
I will celebrate my 11th anniversary in January.
How did your transition from hygienist to dental industry professional take place?
Early in my clinical dental hygiene career, I knew I wanted to be involved with the dental industry side of the Dental and Dental Hygiene community. So with that in mind, I continued my formal education, first completing my bachelors degree in Marketing and then continued on to graduate school, earning my MBA from Indiana University. With the combination of clinical experience and business education I was ready to make the "leap" from chairside and have enjoyed every minute of it.

What is your favorite part of your job?
The opportunity to do things that make clinician's jobs easier and better. In product management, where I spent many years, it was leading teams to bring new products like EverEdge, SideKick and DiamondTec to the market and watching the impact they have in clinical practice. Now in my role as Sales Trainer, I most enjoy training our employees and our dealer distribution network on these same instruments and more. Sharing the tradition of Hu-Friedy quality and how Hu-Friedy instruments and services make a significant impact on the way clinicians treat patients and to help make them better at what they do. It is a very rewarding endeavor.
Do you have a favorite Hu-Friedy memory?
Too many to count, but there's always a little fun involved!
What sets Hu-Friedy apart from other companies in the industry?
The company culture and the people of Hu-Friedy. Every individual in our company has a great sense of pride in what they do, and the contribution they make. It's a great place to be -- come visit we'd love to give you a tour of our facility!
Is there anything you miss about being a practicing hygienist?
Not really. Since I'm lucky enough to interact with dental hygiene colleagues and practitioners on a daily basis I don't feel like I'm really that far "away" from clinical practice.
