GOAL
The Dental Hygienist shall be educated on prevention and treatment for breast disease and its affects and interactions pertaining to oral health.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Statistics show that the Dental Hygienist, and dental patients are included in the population that are in a high risk pool of being affected with breast cancer. This educational program is designed to provide an in depth understanding of the procedures for diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. The dental professional should recognize the associated oral implications and dental treatment considerations. This program further provides a patient's perspective of the dental experience of living with breast cancer.

OBJECTIVES
After completing this presentation, the reader should be able to:

1. Discuss the different methods of breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.
2. Identify dental treatment considerations and oral complications for patients undergoing breast cancer therapy.
3. Relay information on all aspects of breast cancer
4. Appreciate the patient's perspective of living with breast cancer.
5. Value overall health and perform monthly breast self-examinations
