How does the product evaluation process work?

Once you have earned enough Hu-Points to qualify for a product evaluation (100-200 Hu-Points), you redeem your points through the Hu-Points Redemption Center.  Simply choose your product and your points are redeemed.  Your product will be sent shortly.

We ask that you try the product for an alloted period of time and complete a survey of your experience with it. You will receive additional Hu-Points after the survey is completed, putting you on the road to earn another evaluation opportunity.

We apologize for not having your school listed.  While we have an extensive list compiled, we may not always have newly opened schools or schools that may no longer be open.   Please contact us and we will be sure to get your dental hygiene school listed.

What should I do if I think a Hu-Quiz is missing?

There may be a variety of reasons why your Hu-Quiz may not show up.  Hu-Quizzes are available only to RDH members of Friends of Hu-Friedy.   While we try our best to ensure that the website runs seamlessly, there may be times when a Hu-Quiz may not be up yet, or may have been erroneously moved.  Please contact us and we will be sure to fix any problems that may arise and ensure that you can take your Hu-Quiz.

Why don't I receive Hu-Points as a student?

Hu-Points are not distributed to students since they are not licensed for clinical practice. Students should expect special offers throughout the year. Once a student has graduated and has become an RDH, they will then qualify to earn Hu-Points towards a product evaluation.

How does the Hu-Points Program work?

The Hu-Points Program is a product evaluation program available only to RDH Friends of Hu-Friedy members residing in North America. Friends of Hu-Friedy student and faculty members will receive alternative membership perks and opportunites to use Hu-Friedy products.

Hu-Points are our way of rewarding you for bringing our Friends of Hu-Friedy community to life. We want this website to be a growing and expanding resource for dental hygiene professionals, and we need you to help us keep information fresh, pertinent, and fun. 

 


 

 

How do I earn Hu-Points? 

 

You earn points by participating in various polls, surveys, by viewing product presentations, submitting suggestions, and generally being involved as a member of Friends of Hu-Friedy. This site is built to mold to your needs and change with your recommendations. 

 


 

 

What is a Hu-Point Worth?  

 

No, you can't cash in your Hu-Points at the local grocery store to buy milk, but you CAN use them to earn opportunities for product evaluations. Participation in different website areas and activities will award different point allocation. The Hu-Point Breakdown can be found below. 

 


 

 

How do I cash in my Hu-Points and receive my product for evaluation?

What is Hu-Friedy's warranty?

Hu-Friedy offers a Limited Lifetime Warranty. Except as otherwise provided, Hu-Friedy instruments provide a lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, and Hu-Friedy will, at its option, repair or replace any product that fails as a result of any such defect. Hu-Friedy guarantees against breakage, joint failure, and corrosions under normal use. Instruments that show expected wear under ordinary use are not considered to be defective. Instrument “lifetime” means ordinary expected life, which varies by type of instrument. Please call Hu-Friedy Technical Services at 1-888-TEC-TECH (1-888-832-8324) with questions about expected life of any specific instrument type. Modifying or retipping an instrument or failure to provide proper instrument care, including proper cleaning and maintenance, may void this warranty. Sharpening and minor tip damage are considered routine maintenance with normal use, and are not covered by warranty.

Ultrasonic Inserts – Full Satisfaction Guarantee
If a dental professional is not satisfied for any reason with a Hu-Friedy Ultrasonic Insert, it can be returned within the first month of use with the dealer invoice for a product exchange.

The Sidekick® Sharpener – Limited Warranty
Hu-Friedy, at its sole option, will repair or replace for a period of one year following the date of purchase, any Sidekick Sharpener that fails as a result of a defect in materials or workmanship. Purchaser must return the defective Sidekick Sharpener (postage prepaid) and must have previously provided Hu-Friedy with the Sidekick warranty registration card.

IMS™ Limited Warranty
Hu-Friedy, at its option, will repair or replace, for a period of four years following the date of purchase, any IMS or IMS Signature Series cassette that is defective because of material failure (including corrosion) or workmanship of the cassette shell. Hu-Friedy, at its option, will also repair or replace, for a period of one year following the date of purchase, any IMS or IMS Signature Series cassette that is defective because of material failure or workmanship of the internal and moving components. Purchaser must return the defective cassette (postage paid) and must have previously provided Hu-Friedy with the registration card.

Hu-Friedy disclaims liability, under this warranty or otherwise, for damages arising from (1) user negligence, misuse, abuse or alterations to the cassette; (2) the use of commercial grade washers; (3) dental automated washer – disinfectors where manufacturer's processing guidelines are not followed; and/or improper set-up and installation of the device.

Are there limitations on warranties?

Hu-Friedy disclaims liability, under this warranty or otherwise, for damages arising from (1) The use of commercial/residential grade washers; (2)The use of dental automated washer-disinfectors where manufacturer’s processing guidelines are not followed; (3) The use of cleaning solutions, chemicals, and/or procedures that are contrary to Hu-Friedy’s recommendations; and or (4) Improper set-up and/or installation of any product.

THE EXPRESS WARRANTY DESCRIBED HEREIN AND ANY APPLICABLE IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OR MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS, ARE LIMITED AS HEREINABOVE STATED. DAMAGES FROM BREACH OF SUCH WARRANTIES ARE LIMITED TO THE COST OF REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT, AT HU-FRIEDY'S OPTION. CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES RESULTING FROM BREACH OF ANY APPLICABLE EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES ARE HEREBY EXCLUDED.

What are Hu-Friedy's shipping charges?

Our standard methods of shipment are UPS ground, U.S. mail, or truck (for larger orders). Charges for any method of transportation will be the actual charges assessed by the carrier. Charges are prepaid and added to the invoice. Drop ship or non-stock shipments from Hu-Friedy will incur an $8.00 handling charge in addition to shipping charges. School orders, convention orders, set-up orders, IMS cassettes, and special configurations do not incur an $8.00 drop ship charge. Backorders from standard stocking orders will be charged freight and insurance.

We welcome ideas and product innovations for consideration. All designs, samples, and other information offered to us for consideration will be returned if not adopted. Please do not submit any new product ideas until signing and returning the Hu-Friedy policy form for persons submitting ideas outside the company. I am involved in setting up a new office/expanding practice, does Hu-Friedy offer any special offers or rebates for this?

Hu-Friedy offers a special program (Office Set-Up Rebate Program) for dental professionals setting up a new practice or expanding practice (excluding educational programs, government, military bases, VA hospitals, and other institutional accounts). The program provides a 10% rebate from Hu-Friedy to the dental professional, based upon Dealer invoice pricing. The 10% rebate calculation is made solely on purchases of Hu-Friedy brand products.

My office purchases a lot of disposable products, does Hu-Friedy have any special rebates for this?

Hu-Friedy is proud to offer the HUSAVE Volume Savings Program. The HUSAVE Volume Savings Program includes sutures, sterilization products, cleaning and care products and other disposable products. The HUSAVE Volume Savings Program provides significant discounts (10-50% off of suggested retail price) for volume purchases with the added convenience of an automatic shipping schedule. All orders must be invoiced through an authorized Hu-Friedy Dealer. In addition, practitioners may also qualify for up to a 6% rebate on HUSAVE purchases at the end of the calendar year. Orders may be combined to cover multiple locations, but cannot be combined for multiple practices with different ownership. Does Hu-Friedy offer special order instruments?

At Hu-Friedy, we listen to our customers’ needs by continuously introducing new and innovative products. There may be times, however, when you need a special configuration of a desired handle/tip selection (or school pattern) that is not part of our standard line. In these cases, we will manufacture instruments on a special order basis. Price quotations are available upon request.
- We require a minimum order of six instruments.
- Please allow eight weeks for delivery
- Any modification to an existing standard Hu-Friedy instrument is non-returnable.

Does Hu-Friedy make custom designed instruments

Hu-Friedy is a leader in the development, manufacturing, and distribution of quality dental instruments as well as products and services related to their use, maintenance, and management. We will be pleased to provide a quotation for a custom-designed instrument. All custom designs remain the property of Hu-Friedy. To receive a quotation for a custom instrument please provide:

- An actual sample and/or a detailed written description which includes all dimensions and measurements: bend angle(s), point width(s), bevel angle(s), handle design, special material requirements, etc.
- Payment of the initial $10,000 prototype fee is due after written approval of the price quotation. Additional prototyping set-up fees may be required up front should new tooling or turnings be required. Prototype set-up fee(s) are non-refundable. Subsequent orders (more than two years) after the initial order are subject to additional prototyping charges.

Submit all custom design requests to: Hu-Friedy Technical Support 1-888-TEC-TECH (1-888-832-8324). We require a minimum order of six instruments. Please allow 10-12 weeks after prototype approval for production and delivery.

How can I ensure my product has not been tampered?

To help ensure that our instruments are of the finest quality, we use a tamper-evident and/or see-through packaging for most products. This packaging should minimize the need for packages to be opened for inspection.

Does Hu-Friedy offer sharpening and/or repair services?

Complete servicing for Hu-Friedy instruments is available. For the safety of our employees, please sterilize all instruments returned for trade-in or service and include proof of sterilization.

Shipping & Delivery: Items returned for service should be sent prepaid via UPS or Registered Insured Mail and marked ATTENTION: Technical Services Department, 3232 N. Rockwell Street, Chicago, IL 60618 U.S.A. Please contact UPS or the Postal Service for specific instructions. We cannot accept responsibility for lost parcels.
