What music is playing in your office while you work, or in your car while you are driving?

Smooth jazz while at work, and a little bit of everything else in my car when I'm not listening to a book on tape or talk radio.

Describe the day your practice opened.
|
|
My first day on the job was soooo long ago I can't hardly remember it! 36 years ago it was summertime in Upper Michigan and I filled in for the only hygienist in the area at all 3 dental offices she worked in while she took the summer off. I had to learn 3 different philosophies and systems in a hurry!

If your most used dental instrument could talk what would it tell you?
|

My Swivel 100 insert would say, "I love the way you twirl me between your fingers, it makes me vibrate with joy!"

What would you do if you weren't a dental professional?
|
|
Write best selling novels when I wasn't working at my regular profession of being a caterer/chef.

What is your favorite outside the office activity?
|
|
Walking, biking, or kayaking along the bayshore enjoying nature and the lovely place I live.

What is your most memorable case as a practitioner?
|
|
Doug C. He was so phobic he had to drive by our office several times before he could even call for an appointment. 35 yrs old and impacted third molars, perio and some decay. Accepted treatment and responsibility. 10 years later he is a star patient and doesn't even sweat any longer in the chair! Very gratifying results, and he sent me flowers and a card thanking me for saving his teeth! It's why I put up with some miserable patients, to get the jewels like him!

What is your favorite tooth and why?
|
|
Maxillary first pre-molars....I love the challenge of getting into the mesial fossa and getting it cleaned out!

If you were stranded on a desert island and could only take one Hu-Friedy instrument, what would it be and why?
|
|
I'd take a double sided mouth mirror so I could use it and the sun to start a survival fire that would enable my rescue!

What has been your shining moment in dentistry?
|
|
Being privileged to learn how to use micro-ultrasonics from Dr. Tom Holbook in Tampa, FL. He even took the time to instruct me in how to make my own thin tips as this was before they were being manufactured. He is the Father of Micro-Ultrasonics as we know and use them today.

If you could be reincarnated into anything, what would it be?
|
|
My cat....I'd love to have her life! I dote on her and she gets to sleep 22 hours a day! And in the sun!

|
My career as a dental hygienist has taken me to places and people I never imagined while in school. There is no one pathway any longer, but many converging trails and roads that map out a career that is at once satisfying and gratifying.
